LOS ANGELES, July 26th, 2023 – West Coast Elite (WCE) is pleased to announce the appointment of D.J. Gay and Scott Martin as the new Youth Directors for the Los Angeles branches. Scott Martin will take the role of our LA Branch based in the South Bay while D.J. will take the role in West LA out of Santa Monica.
D.J. ‘s own basketball journey includes playing DI basketball for four years at San Diego State University, where he notably participated in the NIT Final Four and the Sweet 16 round of the March Madness Tournament. His exceptional contributions to the sport earned him a well-deserved induction into the SDSU Hall of Fame for the years 2007 to 2011.
Furthermore, D.J.’s passion for basketball extended to the professional level, where he competed in various countries across Europe, leaving a lasting impact on the international basketball community.
In the 2021-22 season, D.J. played an integral role in La Jolla Country Day’s success, contributing to their outstanding 19-11 (8-4) record and leading the team to a remarkable 3rd-place finish in the Coastal League. As the head coach, he demonstrated his dedication to the sport by organizing training camps on campus and implementing a highly competitive program, which further solidified his reputation as a seasoned mentor.
D.J. now serves as the Boy’s Varsity Head Coach at the Windward School as he looks forward to the upcoming season.
Scott Martin has served as the West Coast Elite Los Angeles High School Director for eight seasons and has placed hundreds of student-athletes in college. Scott has also worked at West Coast Elite Basketball for the past 8 years running tournaments and individual showcases across the West Coast. He also runs AOG College Consulting that helps student-athletes and families navigate the college recruiting process.
Scott has been coaching at El Segundo High School for the past decade at all levels of the program. He enters his first season as the Boy’s Varsity Head Coach at El Segundo High School.
